The Problem with Conventional Treatments for Menstruation Issues

Transform Your Period Health: Healing Beyond Conventional Medicine
If you’re struggling with your period health with period cramps, cysts, fibroids, and more…
you might feel frustrated with traditional Western medicine. Doctors often compartmentalize healing, focusing solely on physical symptoms without addressing the emotional and spiritual aspects of menstruation.
Many women find that their healthcare providers suggest solutions like pain pills, contraceptives, or even hysterectomies to "solve" their period health issues. But these methods often mask underlying problems rather than address the root causes of discomfort.
The Importance of Holistic Healing For Optimal Menstrual Health
Instead of merely blocking or masking your menstrual health issues, it’s vital to heal the emotional and spiritual relationship you have with your womb.
Can you reflect on your first experience with menstruation?
Was it a joyful moment, or was it filled with fear or embarrassment? Think about any past experiences, such as feeling shamed or mocked for your period. These memories can contribute to an unhealthy relationship with your womb, impacting your overall health.
The Mind-Body Connection and Your Womb Health
If you believe in the mind-body-soul connection, consider how negative thoughts and emotions about your period can manifest physically. Issues like period cramps, heavy bleeding, PCOS, fibroids, and endometriosis can stem from this disconnect.
The good news is that it’s possible to change this relationship at any age. With a gentle daily practice targeting optimal pelvic and uterus health, you can reconnect with your body, improving your period health, libido, and overall joy.
My Journey to Period Healing
I’ve experienced this holistic healing firsthand. After suffering from debilitating period cramps, irregularity, and mood fluctuations, I decided to ditch the contraceptive pill and pain medication.
Instead, I embraced natural healing through Yoga Therapy. This was not an overnight fix. It took time and patience to heal my relationship with my womb. And there were certainly tough moments of healing deep trauma that I had stored in my womb.
Today, I enjoy peaceful, easeful periods and feel empowered in my body every day of my cycle. This transformational journey even inspired me to become a Yoga Therapist C-IAYT.

How 1:1 Yoga Therapy Can Help Reduce Menstrual Health Issues
Every Yoga Therapy session begins with an intake form which helps me understand your specific challenges and wellness goals.
Whether you want to reduce period cramps, manage fibroids or cysts, balance your cycle, or alleviate PMS symptoms, this information is essential for tailoring your sessions.
Your First Session
In your first session, known as the intake session, we’ll discuss your health challenges in detail. I’ll ask a series of questions based on the intake form you completed, allowing us to explore how long you’ve faced these issues and how they’ve impacted you emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Ongoing Sessions Focused on You
After the intake, our sessions will focus on your body and feelings. We may incorporate practices such as:
Breathing techniques
Nervous system regulation exercises
Gentle yoga poses for optimal pelvic health
Womb meditations
Womb yoga nidra
Self-compassion exercises
These practices are designed to promote womb healing and emotional balance, helping you feel more connected to your body, uterus, and alleviate menstrual health issues.
Reflecting on Your Emotional & Spiritual Relationship with Your Womb
If you’re curious about your emotional and spiritual connection to your womb, start by asking yourself:
What are my feelings and thoughts about my period?
Take some time to write everything down in a journal. Include your thoughts, feelings, and even what you’ve heard from others. For example, you might have thoughts like:
“My period is such an inconvenience,”
“I’m crazy when I’m on my period.”
When I first explored these questions, I discovered many unhealthy beliefs about my period, and I realized I wasn’t being kind to myself.
As you journal, you might uncover some uncomfortable truths.
Take your time—spend a week exploring these feelings. You may find that you’re disconnected from your womb or rarely think about it at all.
Womb Healing Takes Time and Patience
It’s easy to rush the healing process, but remember that there are no shortcuts. Womb healing requires patience, respect, and kindness toward yourself.
Don’t judge your answers; simply let them flow. You might also want to explore further questions:
What’s my relationship with my womb right now?
Do you feel close to it, saying: “I send her love every day,” or are you confused, thinking, “I don’t know how to connect to my womb?”
These gentle questions can be the start of your emotional and spiritual healing journey. Embracing a healthier perspective on your period involves releasing negative beliefs and thoughts. No matter your age or challenges, you can cultivate a loving relationship with your womb and period.
Empowering Yourself
Trust that you have the power to improve your period health, even when it feels painful or frustrating. Your thoughts can shape your reality, including your period health.
If this blog inspires you to take charge of your menstrual health, consider these affirmations to foster a positive mindset:
“My period is a power that I respect and nurture.”
If these affirmations don’t resonate just yet, that’s okay! Create your own positive statements that feel believable to you right now.

Hi! I’m Joss Frank, founder of Wild Womb. I understand how womb and body healing ignites when you look within for guidance because I self-healed from my painful periods, depression, anxiety, sexual assault, emotional and physical abuse… after years of failed efforts to feel better about myself. My failed efforts led to a revelation that true healing comes from within and it requires loving community.
Today, as a Yoga Therapist in my practicum, I help people with womb and body healing so they can reclaim their feminine power, LOVE their sacred feminine bodies, and feel more confident.
